GET RESEARCH CLARITY

Hi there, I help postgraduate researchers to clarify their key research question, theme, arguments and thesis structure—quickly, incisively and enjoyably.

I help researchers achieve sparkling clarity. I help postgrads crystallise the core "aha" of their work—expressed in the key research question or theme. I also help shape key ideas into a logical sequence of arguments—expressed in the thesis structure and detailed table of contents. It's a special kind of editing. It's what's called formative, developmental, or structural editing (not copy-editing).It's hard to do alone. Not all supervisors, or supportive friends, are good at this (if they are, keep them close, this is so valuable).I'd love to help. If you are struggling with this, I can help—whatever your domain, approach and content.Navigating the murky edge with clarity. I understand the journey all researchers embark on: pushing into the unknown from a specific edge of existing knowledge and best practice. The more innovative the project, the murkier it can feel. From this place of discovery, I help to frame what you're excited about, and rigorously working on, in terms of advances in your field. My process expertise. I have advanced process-based expertise, regarding the ways conceptual clarity is achieved with the right 'interweaving' of external factors (eg your field) and inner knowing (eg your unique perspective).I work with all major research paradigms. In the last two decades, I've worked with over 200 research students, both one-on-one and in small groups, spanning all major research methods including empirical (qualitative / quantitative), conceptual (logical / theoretical), and practical (arts / design / engineering).I first developed this skill as a multidisciplinary research methodologist. I was engaged as a research methods lecturer and tutor spanning a dozen discipline areas for QUT Creative Industries Faculty (2005-10). I began this role whilst still a research student (completing a PhD in 2007).

My core approach. I use forensic structural analysis, schematic diagrams and deep listening to your ideas and inner hunches—to generate and refine clear research statements (questions, themes, arguments) along with itemised, well-ordered structures.Working together. We meet on zoom over several sessions, with shared google docs and auto-transcriptions (for your reference).Fee. My fee is $2200 for a 10hr block (with an extra 2hrs if required), and $1100 for a 5hr block (with extra 1hr if required). This specialist fee reflects my speed, skill, thoroughness, and ability to handle all complexities and ambiguities.Interested? If you need this kind of help, email me to book a call, and let's see if we are re a good fit. I don't take everyone on. I have limited places over summer. And you need to be at a potent stage of progress.Cheers
Luke
